About

JumpSuite is a B2B platform designed to simplify and expedite the process of creating onboarding plans for companies, while maximizing the impact they have on new hires’ learning, productivity, and job satisfaction. This is accomplished through a variety of features, including an itinerary builder that customizes onboarding plans while following best practices around learning and retention.

Problem

  • Onboarding is essential for integrating new hires into company processes and culture, but often falls short

  • The process can feel rushed and overwhelming, with hours of meetings and managers rebuilding plans from scratch

  • It’s under-resourced, leaving teams without the support needed to onboard effectively

  • As a result, it’s often unproductive, and new hires don’t feel fully prepared for their roles

Objective

Conduct qualitative and quantitative research, including competitive analysis, surveys, moderated interviews, and synthesizing key findings.

Form an MVP.

Executive Summary/MVP

The team explored what solutions already exist in this space. While many of these existing products focus on pieces of what makes for a comprehensive solution, none had features that we felt were critical to it. JumpSuite’s goal is to make new hires confident and excited to jump into their new role, while giving hiring managers more time for other responsibilities. We were surprised to find that no other solution allowed for customization based on the new hire’s preferences and learning styles or helped hiring managers create onboarding plans that follow best practices around learning and retention, etc.

We created a survey sharing our visual value proposition, of which 40 people participated with overall positive responses. All potential users understood JumpSuite’s purpose and core features, and 73% of potential users would absolutely use or might use JumpSuite based on the visual value proposition alone.

Findings/Reflection

The team sought to test our hypothesis that a solution like JumpSuite is not only desirable to the new hire, but to the other stakeholders at their organization who play a role in onboarding them, such as HR/hiring managers. We conducted research through surveys and interviews with individuals who play a leading role in onboarding at their organizations.

We were fortunate enough to have a really diverse group of organizations represented within our target audience including AT&T and Pfizer, LinkedIn and Riot Games.

We found that there is no one, universally accepted definition of onboarding at these organizations. Many divide new hire activities and tasks into pre-boarding, onboarding, orientation. This was a critical learning for us as we develop messaging around our solution and design ways for users to customize their experience to reflect their own terminology. There is no one, universally accepted idea of when the new hire has completed their new hire period. Some use 30/60/90 days, and the longest was two years.
