Overview
Fast fashion utilizes trend replication; studying runways/catwalks, rapidly producing low quality garments in order to bring inexpensive trendy styles to the public. The mass production of cheap, poor quality disposable clothing has greatly influenced consumers to buy more.
Problem
Companies, manufacturers and many more, are held responsible for fast fashion. Consumers specifically, can be the first to take action and make a change. How might we inspire consumers to shift to intentional consumption to disrupt the fast fashion industry?
Solution
Design a mobile app that raises awareness of fast fashion’s impact while guiding users toward more sustainable shopping habits. The app empowers consumers with tools like AR scanning to evaluate garments, educational resources on fabrics and environmental impact, and curated examples from existing brands. Interactive features like a fashion footprint quiz and ongoing content keep users engaged, helping them make more informed, responsible decisions over time.
Process
Research
Conducted research through stakeholder insights and competitor analysis to understand existing solutions and gaps, then synthesized findings into personas to guide design decisions and align the product with user needs.
Information Architecture
Structured complex asset data into a scalable system spanning dashboards, inspections, reports, and administrative tools.
Wireframes, Design, Prototyping
Explored and iterated on wireframes and prototypes to balance complex data density with clear structure, intuitive navigation, and overall usability.
“How might we inspire consumers to shift to intentional consumption to disrupt the fast fashion industry?”

Feature 2: Scan and Score-Augmented Reality (AR)
Users scan fabrics, garments, tags, or upload photos to get information about their garment and provide an overall rating.
Scenario 1: Scan a product before buying to make conscious decisions
Scenario 2: Understand ease of wash, estimated longevity of the item
Scenario 3: Upload images of existing garments to see if it’s worth keeping
Feature 3: Fabric Glossary
Users can educate themselves about materials and make better choices
Feature 4: Engagements: The Daily Slow
Feature articles, a brand directory, and external resources to stay engaged.
