S.A.M.E. Scholarship Event

Overview/Objective

Each year, the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) hosts an annual scholarship dinner to honor militants, students and honorees.

The committee needed a user-friendly responsive website for desktop and mobile for attendees to register and go through the checkout process for payments.

Process

  • Information Architecture- create user flow for each registration type

  • Design & Develop- design UI and prototype

  • QA/Usertesting- Test for clear navigation, logical workflows, and accessibility compliance

  • Launch the website- Soft launch for early registrations

  • User Analysis- watch recordings of users registering to make improvements

Outcome

• 227 attendees
• $275,800 raised

User Experience

  • Responsive Design: Ensured the site is accessible and visually appealing on all devices.

  • Intuitive User Interface: Simplified navigation with clear calls-to-action for a seamless user experience.

  • Registration Form: Built an interactive and secure form to collect attendee information efficiently.

  • Payment Integration: Incorporated a payment gateway for seamless ticket purchases.

  • Confirmation and Notifications: Automated email confirmations and reminders for registered attendees.

Challenges/
Scenario Planning

• There are five (5) registration types
• Each registration type requires different information
• Scenario of the user registering on behalf of someone else
• Scenario of the user registering on behalf to also attend
• Scenario of user wanting to make modifications
• Scenario of only purchasing sponsorship items and not registration

User Analysis

  • Analyzed web visitors by watching recordings, observing heat maps and click through rates to understand users’ frustrations and help improve the experience.

  • Compared experiences on different devices and see results
